Meet the Baby Talk Team

Meet The Team

Our team of coaches all have one thing in common - we are all passionate about the concept and use of signing with our pre-speech children and beyond. Because of this, most of us are signing mums and we all have an element of teaching in our background through different areas.

We work as a team and it is important to us that parents and educators attending our workshops have an insight into our own experiences and therefore our passion.

My name is Robyn Holt. I'm married to Andrew and have two children, Benjamin (8) and Dominic (5). My husband and I have come through the ranks with Baby TalkŪ Baby Sign Language - firstly using it with both Benjamin and Dominic, then with me as a Coach and finally we purchased the Baby TalkŪ business in September 2009. As parents we have found it a wonderful tool - it certainly saved the sanity of both parents and children!

My background is in Marketing and Accounting and I still do some work as an accountant.

Apart from Baby TalkŪ and being Mum, in my spare time I work a reasonable amount with kids other than my own. I'm very involved in Girls' Brigade both locally and nationally - almost 20 years as a leader; I co-lead a mainly music group; and lead Kids Praise at our church. And I've had two wonderful years learning NZSL.

My name is Kirsty and I have been signing with my older son since he was about 3 months old - when I first felt able to think about anything else! Now I'm signing with my new baby with help from my 2― year old!

I am a qualified Speech and Language therapist and have many years of experience using and teaching sign language. I have a great understanding of how using signs can help your and your baby's communication skills and reduce frustration - both at a personal and professional level.

I love signing, and look forward to sharing my experiences with you.

Originally from Guernsey, Channel Islands, I worked as a Registered Nurse for 16 Years. I learnt British Sign Language prior to moving and then New Zealand Sign Language when I arrived. I am married to Wayne and we have two beautiful children Sophie (6) and Malachi (3) and a third due in June. I began teaching Baby TalkŪ when I started to sign with Sophie as a baby.

I currently work part time as a teacher aide and so also get to experience the use of sign within that field.

After experiencing Baby TalkŪ with both of my children - and planning to use it with the third, I am now in the fortunate position of being able to work within an organisation that I am really passionate about. Through our workshops your family can experience the fun and communication that mine does to this day.

Kia Ora
I'm Sara and my baby boy, Jai, was born in January.

I've just come back from five years in Africa where amongst other things I taught English to children in Kenya and South Africa. I've also taught in London working with teenage refugees who had emotional and behavioral difficulties...there were over 50 different languages spoken in the school I worked in.

Both my great grandparents were deaf and actually met at a signing school, so I have a family connection to sign language, along with a passion for teaching. I am really looking forward to working with people in the Gisborne area and teaching these great skills through Baby Talk.

Hi, I'm Clare Dale I'm a busy mum of three young boys Olly (7), Connor (4) and Ryan (2).

I first got involved with Baby TalkŪ sign language with Olly when he was 6 months old. When Connor came along we decided that we would again use Baby TalkŪ so started from day one!

The best thing for us was that the daycare that Connor attended (Ukidz in Palmerston) also decided to introduce Baby TalkŪ into their curriculum.

This meant that Connor was able to transition into pre-school with no problems using his sign as he could get his needs meet and be understood.

Email: meredith@babytalk.co.nz

Hi my name is Meredith and I live in Invercargill with my husband and daughter Kacee. My background is in education mostly with 0 - 5 year olds. I started signing to my daughter when she was born and it's exciting now that she is signing back - especially animal signs! (I pity the dog when she begins to crawl!) I love being involved in her world and now I can share my experiences with you!

I became involved with Baby Talk after seeing Sarah's interview on Breakfast and the more I get to know, the more passionate I have become about baby sign. I am looking forward to sharing Baby Talk and it's associated benefits with families in and around Southland.

We are looking for more Coaches in Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Canterbury and the West Coast.

If you feel that you would like to be a part of the team and would like information, please contact us at info@babytalk.co.nz.
